3 Effective Techniques To Cope With Stress

Stress is a feeling you get when you are overwhelmed or unable to cope with everything going on around you. Sometimes, things can get a little too much to handle, especially when you have deadlines to meet or when you’re experiencing major changes in your life.

It’s completely understandable to feel stressed out when all of this happens, but it is important to find ways to cope with the stress.

Here are 3 simple coping mechanisms when you’re experiencing stress:

Method #1: Practice Meditation

Meditation is an effective method for stress management and also helps to improve overall health. There are a few different types of meditation that you can practice, but one of the common methods is mindfulness meditation.

Mindfulness meditation is a form of meditation which trains your mind to get rid of negative thoughts, slow down rapid thoughts, and calm your mind and body. All you need to do is get into a comfortable position and carry out deep breathing.

The goal of mindfulness meditation is to get more comfortable with your thoughts. When certain thoughts appear to your mind, it is important to acknowledge them while still ensuring that you focus on your breathing. This is to stabilize your thoughts and to make sure that your mind does not wander around during the meditation.

Method #2: Listening to Music

Music can play a huge role in helping you to release stress. Music that is upbeat can lighten your mood and make you feel more positive, whereas slow music can soothe your mind and relax your muscles.

Customising a playlist for yourself is highly recommended. For instance, adding lo-fi music into your playlist can help you to sleep better or to calm your nerves when you’re feeling tensed up.

Lo-fi, which stands for low-fidelity, is a soothing form of music. There are many lo-fi playlists available on applications such as Youtube and Spotify, so if you do not have the time to customise your own playlist, you could always use the ones that are already available on the app.

Method #3: Aromatherapy Dough

An aromatherapy dough is a play dough infused with essential oils, in order to help you to stay relaxed. All you need to do is massage the dough between your fingers, inhale the aroma of the essential oils, and squeeze your stress away!

Besides it being a stress-reliever, aromatherapy doughs are also beneficial in reducing your anxiety levels and enhancing your mood in general. Do check out this local business owner @cubit.my, which sells aromatherapy doughs that are lavender scented and citrus scented.

Final Thoughts:

Personally, I was inspired to write on this topic as I noticed how stressed the people around me started to feel once the pandemic started, including myself. During these tough times, it is important to take care of your mental health as much as your physical one.

Hence, I hope that these three ways will help each and every single one of you out there, as much as it has helped me!
