It is natural for individuals to set goals and have a strong vision for themselves. As humans, we constantly push ourselves to achieve success, until we may reach a point where we feel all of our energy has been drained out of us.
So, when do we know when to press pause and just take a break? Here are a few signs that you may be experiencing, which suggests that you need to give yourself a break:
Sign #1: You lose interest in something you were once passionate about.
Losing interest in something you truly love or enjoy doing is one of the biggest signs that it is time to give yourself a break. For instance, if you are passionate about learning new skills but lately, you find it burdening to learn anything new, it means that you need to take a step back and start relaxing.
Sign #2: You experience changes in appetite.
If your eating habits start to change, it is probably an indicator that you need to take a break. You could be losing your appetite and therefore, skipping meals more than you usually do. Or, it could be the other way around and you find yourself eating more than usual (in terms of portion size and snacking).
Either way, you should not take this lightly because changes in eating patterns are a symptom of experiencing heavy stress.
Sign #3: You face sleeping issues.
Whenever you are feeling overwhelmed, sleep is something you would struggle with. For example, working at odd hours in the night to finish up a certain task or project. This often happens when you are feeling stressed out with deadlines, which leads you to becoming unable to sleep and therefore, drowning yourself with work instead.
In some cases, some people reach a point where they sleep for longer hours than usual, as a coping mechanism for the stress they are experiencing and to escape from reality.

Feeling disconnected from the world is a sign of mental exhaustion. Sometimes, all you feel like doing is to crawl back into your bed and shut the world out.
For instance, you often feel like ignoring all your responsibilities and cutting people off from your life. This is a sign that you are currently feeling overwhelmed and hence, you should give yourself some time off.
These are a few common signs which tell you that you need to take a break. Do not ignore these signs and remember that sometimes, it is completely okay to want to be by yourself and just take time off. Ultimately, it is important to unwind, especially when you have been having rough days.
